We have a fantastic and rare opportunity for a talented and dedicated Development Coach to join our team at the Brisbane Lions A.F.C.
Reporting to the Innovation and Development Manager, the primary role of the Development Coach is to optimise player performance and individual development through the design and implementation of innovative coaching, teaching and training methods. The role will also include coaching the Brisbane Lions reserves team that participates in the NEAFL competition.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Development Program - Develop and
maintain player development curriculum designed to enhance the capability of
the player to play at an elite level. This shall be achieved through the
provision of visual, written and verbal feedback to players. You will also be
required to prepare and implement a development program that will enhance
players’ technical skills, decision making and game sense

Reserves Program - Coach the Brisbane
Lions reserves team that participates in the NEAFL. This will involve the
management of the Reserves’ coaching staff

Leadership, Culture and People – Role
model the standards, behaviours and discipline expected of Brisbane Lions staff
and players. You must actively drive the Clubs culture and values

Stakeholder Engagement and Management
– Communicate effectively with all Football Department staff with particular
reference to the coaching, physical performance and recruiting functions
The ideal candidate must possess a
minimum Level 2 AFL Coaching Accreditation, whilst an AFL High Performance
Coaching Accreditation, and/or Education qualifications will be advantageous.
You must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of current trends in AFL
football, including tactics, strategies, patterns of play and team structures.
Previous experience in development
coaching, including the design and implementation of coaching curriculum and
programs, and team coaching experience at an elite youth or senior level are
essential. You must possess sound IT skills and experience using game analysis
software programs (Sportscode). In addition, you must demonstrate a thorough
understanding of learning styles and teaching methodologies as well as the
ability to identify skills deficiencies, and design appropriate remedial
programs.
Well-developed active listening
skills, showing an ability to take direction as well as to direct others is
critical to being successful in this role. You must also possess very good
communication and interpersonal skills, and be highly motivated and committed
to achieving excellence. This entry level position would suit a talented,
aspiring coach who is seeking to enhance their career at AFL level.
