I am Ben Woods, current student at St Teresa's Catholic College in Noosa Heads. I am 16 years old, and I enjoy playing sport a lot. I play AFL and I am a current member at Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club and compete in Iron Man events, Beach Sprints and Flags. This Fitnance course is perfect for me, I love to play sport, keep fit and work out, but the bonus here is that I get payed for it. The group of people that I am doing this course with are incredible too, we all get along and work together when Mitch gives us weird, crazy questions we have no clue about. I someday wish to be a personal trainer, which can take me all over the world, train all kinds of people and see lots of amazing things. I would like to thank Mitch Bich for training us in Noosa every week and to everyone at Fitnance for organising everything and setting all of this up.
Cheers.

Trainee: Peter Breid

Hello, I'm Peter Breid. I am currently attending year 12 at St. Teresa's Catholic College in Noosa. I enjoy sports such as Grid-iron, Baseball, Soccer and Basketball. I began my certificate 3 in Fitness with Fitnance in late February 2012, I enjoy this course very much because of the opportunities it offers in workplaces around the world, and the benefits it provides during the duration of the course. I hope in the following years, to utilise the skills i've obtained throughout this course and seize the unlimited opportunities that the course has and will prepare me for. Even though at the moment I hope to one day enlist in the Unite States Marine Corps, this qualification gives me many ideas as to what alternative options could be :)
Thanks to Mitch and everyone at Fitnance

YOU NEED YOUR SLEEP!

Athletes and the general public-alike all fall susceptible to fatigue and decreased immune function, so therefor adequate recovery, sleep and nutrition becomes fundamental. When we have a decreased immune response, our immune system is more fragile and less able to fight everyday viruses and germs.

Sleep has been noted as the best form of recovery for physiological and psychological repair and restoration. A decreased immune and endocrine system will impair the recovery process and adaptations to training.

Some tips to enhance quality and quantity;

- plan fluid/food intake - high GI foods and foods high in tryptophan (such as a glass of milk and a banana) promote sleep.
- ensure that the bed is comfortable and at the recommended ambient temperature of (19-21 degrees).
- avoid thinking, planning or other mental tasks whilst in bed - 'to do list'

A study conducted on healthy adults showed that adults who achieved <7hrs/night were 3 times more likely to develop symptoms of the common cold than those who slept >8hrs/night

How much are you getting?

TRY IT OUT

Come and try our new Mobility Class that will be held on consecutive Fridays at 9:30am. It will include a variety of different disciplines, including; yoga, pilates & stretching, trigger points and self massage.

Good luck!

Good luck to Martin Corkery who's participating in a cycle from Spain to France, held on the 23rd-30th this month. The circuit combines both inland and coastal scenery, along with the beautiful cities of Vitoria, Pamplona, which was the city famous for the 'running of the bulls' festival as well as San Sebastian and Bilboa. Part of the trek follows the famous old pilgrimage route known as the way of St James as the cycle briefly ducks into France and then returning again to the Basque Coast.

I participate in boxing in my spare time and train to hopefully turn it into a career. I have recently started soccer again for the first time in 12 months, but still continue basketball. They call me YOLO because Yohans only lives once.

Hi my name is Jason Pillay, I was born in South Africa and lived there till the age of 6. I then moved to Auckland in New Zealand for 9 years. I now live in Brisbane and I am now a trainee at Fitnance. I am 16 years of age and I attend Cavendish Road State High School, where I was selected for the Soccer excellence program.

Outside of school I play Soccer for Rochedale Rovers FC. My Dream goal is to become a professional soccer player. I started getting interested in sport at a very young age.
