Purpose of Position:
This position is supported by the Department of Communities, Sport and Recreation Services through the Local Sport and Recreation Jobs Plan Program.

The Objectives of the Local Sport and Recreation Jobs Plan are to:
·         Build the capacity of organisations that support and deliver sport and recreation opportunities to meet the Queensland Government’s Toward Q2: Tomorrow’s Queensland commitment to ‘make Queenslanders Australia’s healthiest people’ by 2020
·         Promote healthy and socially inclusive communities by supporting volunteers’ roles in the development and delivery of sport and recreation
·         Facilitate more collaborative and inclusive approaches in local communities so that opportunities are available for all Queenslanders to be active
·         Encourage sustainability of local sport and recreation organisations through local, tailored support that builds the capacity of volunteers to manage organisations more effectively and efficiently.
The role of the Jobs Plan Officer will be to:
·         Meet with the cluster clubs on a regular basis (this may mean evening work)
·         Provide advice to the clubs on governance and management of their organisation
·         Develop the clubs volunteer base to build ongoing skills and knowledge within the cluster clubs
·         Support clubs with sourcing information on grant opportunities, sponsorship, fundraising and corporate partnerships for sport and recreation activities
·         Develop with the club marketing and promotional activities to create greater community engagement and making people aware of their local sport and recreation activities and events to be involved in
Desirable Qualifications/Experience
·         Sport and recreation industry knowledge or qualification with an ability to gain relevant knowledge to provide high quality support and advice to the cluster and the organisation as a whole
·         Ability to communicate with a wide cross section of people, community organisations and relevant government bodies
·         Be self-motivated and able to identify organisational priorities to best meet needs of the clubs
·         Have the ability to identify local trends to help clubs provide sport and recreation activities in their local community
·         Help the clubs to develop local opportunities to create membership growth
Personal Skills and Abilities
·         Highly developed people skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
·         Highly developed organisational skill.
·         Capacity to contribute positively to a small team.

Are you committed and dedicated? Jetts are currently seeking new team members to fill the roles of Club Manager, Assistant Club Manager and Personal Trainer in Darra and Morningside!  

A Club Manager needs to have a current first aid certificate and the ability to also conduct a personal training business within the facility. Ideally candidates will commence in late January/February. The successful applicant will be rewarded with a competitive salary package, results-based bonuses, training opportunities and an independent working environment. Above all, a passion for people and a desire to provide an incredible experience to all is an absolute must!

Assistant Club Managers should have current cert 3 & 4 along with a current First Aid certificate.  The Assistant Club Manager will commence a normal assistant manager role (32hrs/p.w) prior to the club opening.  This will consist of training and club promotion/marketing.  On club opening the role of Assistant Club Manager will revert to 12hrs per week so that the preferred applicant can then take up their role as a contract personal trainer in the club, running their own business.

Personal Trainers are required to have current cert 3 & 4 in fitness / First Aid certificate / ABN / relevant insurances. 

A background in the fitness and health industry is preferred but not necessary.

We have a fantastic and rare opportunity for a talented and dedicated Player Welfare and Education Coordinator to join our team at the Brisbane Lions A.F.C.

Reporting to the Manager - Welfare, Leadership and Culture, the Player Welfare and Education Coordinator is responsible for the Club’s player education and welfare services that aim to maximise the potential of each individual player. This will be achieved by providing off-field development and wellbeing support to create a stable and professional environment for each individual player.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

*       Player Relocation – Coordinate the successful relocation and transition of players and their families to Brisbane and into the Club’s culture. Organise host families for first year players and play an integral role in settling them in

*       Player Personal Development – Identify opportunities and assist players in writing their personal development plans. This includes career development (ie TAFE, University), personal development (life skills, media awareness, nutrition), and emotional resilience (stress management, coping strategies)

*       Player Welfare – Assist with implementation of strategies to manage and minimise players who may show increasing welfare or wellbeing needs

*       Assist Development Coaches with needs of players at training if and when required; and assist the NEAFL (Reserves) team on match days

*       The ideal candidate will possess a teaching or education qualification, or a counselling qualification with demonstrated experience in growing and developing individuals to reach their full personal and professional potential. You must possess a thorough understanding of learning and teaching methodologies and the application of such, with the proven ability to lead, motivate, appraise and develop individuals. You must be able to maintain a positive ethos emphasising personal best and should be able to demonstrate you have the ability to provide quality care, guidance and support where required.

Experience working with professional athletes and an understanding of the AFL industry are both desirable attributes, but not essential. You must be approachable, have integrity and possess very good communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate that you have a commitment to our Club’s values.

Position Title: Development Manager, Brisbane West.

The Development Manager – Brisbane West will focus on Staff Management, Financial Management, Participation, Community Football, Fan Development and Promotions, Talent, and Reports. The Brisbane West Development Manager will report to the State Development Manager.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Leading the development of participation strategies across the region through schools, female football, AFL 9s, diversity programs and Auskick,
  • Implementing and overseeing a transition strategy for the region to increase and retain participants to club football,

  • Proven ability to effectively manage a diverse and extensive portfolio of projects concurrently,
  • Satisfactory ‘Working With Children’ check (Blue Card) from Queensland State Government or ability to obtain,
  • Due to the nature of the sporting industry, must be willing to work outside normal business hours from time to time, such as evenings and weekends,
