Detailed Description | Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association are currently seeking a Support Officer for the Walk On program, an initiative of Spinal Cord Injuries Australia that is delivered out of the Association’s Brisbane wheelchair accessible gym.
Walk On is an intensive exercise program that aims to maximise functional recovery for people with spinal cord injuries. Outside of Walk On, the Association also offers personal training services and general purpose gym use to clientele with musculo-skeletal, neurological, metabolic and cardio-pulmonary impairments.
A brief outline of roles and responsibilities for the position is as follows: - Provide hands on assistance and administration support to Walk On Lead Trainers and the Gym Coordinator as required
- Supervise and implement exercise prescription to members using the Gym, ensuring a safe, friendly and encouraging environment
- Provide personal training services to Gym members
Please note there is potential advancement to a Walk On Lead Trainer role from this position in the future.
We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in fitness and adapted physical activity who effectively work in both a team environment and individually.
Applicants must possess highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. Applicants must demonstrate competence in Microsoft Office and general administration. Applicants must hold a degree in Human Movement studies, Exercise Science or similar and eligible for accreditation with associated professional body.
This is a full time position, consisting of a 38 hour week basis with flexible working hours however there is potential for the role to be two part-time roles for suitable candidates.
