Eating Too Much Salt Is Bad For Your Health

Australians are eating five to ten times the recommended daily intake of salt, and this is having serious consequences on our health. Excess salt is a leading cause of chronic disease. There is overwhelming evidence that high levels of salt consumption result in high blood pressure, the leading cause of stroke and a major factor in heart disease.
Most Australians eat 8-10g of salt a day but could live healthily on just 1-2g/day.
How much salt is in the food you are eating? Check out your food labels and see how much you are eating, then try to reduce. We often get caught up the fat and carbs issues but excess salt can have serious health consequences.
