Reporting to the HPU National Talent Development Coordinator, the High Performance Unit Programs Coach - Queensland will assist in maintaining the highest standards of talent development and on-field performance to ensure Australia remains a world Rugby power whilst reinforcing the ethos and traditions of the game.

Responsibilities include:

  • Expert coaching and management of the National Talent Development Programs in Queensland including the National Gold Squad (NGS) and the Junior Gold Program (JGP)
  • Plan/Design yearly schedules of the various Talent Development Programs in Queensland in consultation with appropriate HPU staff
  • Coordinate and assist in developing methods to select players (talent identification) for various national talent development programs
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders which promote program outcomes, initiatives, delivery and services and communicate performance outcomes. Key stakeholders include clubs, schools and the Queensland Rugby Union
  • Expert coaching within other national HPU programs as advised including the National Academy and National Teams programs
  • Work effectively with other team members to support and complement other national programs and research

Required skills:

  • Proven high level understanding of professional coaching techniques especially elite player development
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and mobilise others to act strategically (lead)
  • Outstanding ability to initiate, monitor and review projects and activities in line with organisational strategic plans
  • Proven management experience with a demonstrated ability to maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Outstanding communications skills - written & verbal

The role requires regular after hours and weekend activities and regional and interstate travel. The successful candidate will be subject to checks under the NSW Working with Children Program.
