My name is Emma Toms, I am a student from QUT and I am Currently studying Clinical Exercise Physiology and i love it! After Studying for four years i have found that our bodies are fascinating so i am thinking i want to venture into studying cardiac science Investigations or cardiac rehabilitation. Having spent the majority of my life playing every sport imaginable i always knew i wanted to pursue a career in health and fitness and learn more about the way our bodies work and how to make them healthier. My background is mainly playing, competing and training others in hockey and touch football and i love boxing and running. I currently work as a trainer mainly running boot camps for women as well as private PT sessions, i am also training to become a clinical Pilate's instructor. With my background in sports and fitness, i found that Fitnance would be a great place to further my skills and knowledge as well as meeting a huge dynamic of different people and learning about how i can help them increase fitness, strength and endurance.

Bec Edwards QUT Prac Student
I am a prac student from QUT, enrolled in the exercise science degree.
When I left school I wasn't completely sure of the career path I was going to take, however was always interested in fitness. Shortly down the track I realised I wanted to persue a career with athletes and helping their injuries through strength and rehabilitation. I would like to continue my studies with physiotherapy in the future. My other qualifications are cert 3 and 4 in fitness (through fitnance) when i was in year 12 via correspondance, cert 4 in massage (current job). I am a middle distant runner who competes up to 5000m in cross country season and 1500m/3000m during track season. It would be great to compete internationally, however have realised its not all about the hard work and training you put in, but been able to stay uninjured. It is through my experience with a major injury that has made me realise how important strength exercises/ conditioning is for a particular sports. Im excited to be doing my prac at Fitnance because it will allow me to gain experience with a wide variety of people, and hopefully gain knowledge on other sports and their conditioning techniques.

Prac student - Mei Yin Lo

My name is Mei Yin Lo and most people call me Vicky. I am an international student from Hong Kong and have been in Australia for three years. I am a third year student studying Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at University of Queensland. I enjoy being active and I used to play gymnastics during high school. Other than gymnastics, dancing, badminton and yoga are also my favorite sports. Currently I am doing practical here in Fitnance to gain experience training and prescribing exercise programs to people before moving onto clinical areas of exercise physiology. I believe that exercising can help people to gain fitness and help create a positive attitude towards life. I look forward to meeting everyone as well as training everyone.

Prac student Marine
I am Marine Labbe, I am 23 year old. I was born in New Caledonia and moved to Australia 4 years ago for my studies. I am passionate about health, nutrition, wellness and sports which lead me to choose a degree in Human Movement (Clinical Exercise Physiology) at the University of Queensland. I am doing a variety of sports since my youngest age and I am particularly interested in running, fitness, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing and Yoga. I have been practicing Yoga since the age of 6 and I have started this year a 9 months Yoga Teacher training course. I am a very enthusiastic person and love helping people to achieve their goals. When I complete my degree I hope to combine my exercise science and yoga knowledge to help people achieve a healthier lifestyle, gain self-confidence and attain a mental and physical balance. While at Fitnance I am hoping to gain some more practical experience and further my knowledge.

Chris Watson

Hi, my name is Chris and I’m currently in my 5th year at QUT completing a dual degree of Podiatry/Human Movements. Why the dual degree you may ask? Well when I was in grade 12 at school looking through the QTAC book podiatry caught my attention. Below the podiatry course was the dual degree and, as I’ve always been involved in sport, the Human Movements side really appealed to me.
I’ve been involved in sport my whole life. My passion really lies with Track and Field however. I started Little Athletics at age 6 and have continued to compete until just recently after having to undergo surgery in an attempt to correct an injury caused by running. Since 2004 my event has been the 400m hurdles. I have represented Queensland at schools and open nationals as well as representing Australia at the 2004 Youth Olympic Festival.
My goal whilst here on prac at Fitnance is to absorb as much knowledge and practical experience which will undoubtedly help me in the future.
