Sport Development and Event Coordinator

Description        

The role of the Sport Development and Events Coordinator (SDEC) is to support the Executive Director and Water Polo Queensland (WPQ) Executive Committee through the establishment and implementation of education, training and development programs which will enhance the development of and participation of Water Polo, in Queensland.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The Sport Development and Events Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and will also liaise with other Queensland and Australian Water Polo staff members as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

The Sports Development & Events Coordinator position key functional area’s included, but is not limited to the following;

*       Junior Development & Recruitment

*       Coach and Official Education

*       Online Member Database Management

*       Event Management

*       Marketing, Media & Communication

*       General administration

*       Other duties

KEY ACCOUNTABLILTIES:

*       Establish and implement Flippa Ball recruitment opportunities at primary schools across the state

*       Establish and implement quality coaching structures, development programs and policies focusing on increased participation and improved performance at State and National level

*       Develop and implement quality technical (referee and table officials) education and training programs & resources which establish a clear pathway for professional development

*       Develop and implement a system for improved communication and information dissemination to coaches, technical personnel and volunteers at all levels

*       Establish and implement quality officiating systems, programs and policies focusing on increased participation and improved performance at State and National level

*       Plan and lead the coordination of Regional, State and National events, activities and programs to maximize participation, performance and enjoyment of players and officials

*       Manage the WPQ online registration system

Tertiary education and experience in sport education management, training and technical delivery is highly desirable. NCAS Level 1 Coaching qualification is mandatory and knowledge of the sport of Water Polo would be an advantage.

Description  The Marketing and Media Officer will assist in delivering marketing strategy and objectives as well as assist in contacting the media and establishing relationships throughout the year. Maintain and build media relations in conjunction with the AWPI Media Manager

*       Assist the external media with any enquires or requirements

*       Maintain and develop social media

*       Develop and write monthly newsletter

*       Assist in implementing a successful marketing and promotional plan that will enhance participation and raise awareness about Water Polo Queensland

Development Coach
Description

The Brisbane Lions A.F.C, with the launch of the vision to 2016, is embarking on a new direction of growth, evolution and ultimately long-term success. We have a fantastic and rare opportunity for a talented and dedicated Development Coach to join our team at the Brisbane Lions A.F.C.

Reporting to the Innovation and Development Manager, the primary role of the Development Coach is to optimise player performance and individual development through the design and implementation of innovative coaching, teaching and training methods. The role will also include coaching the Brisbane Lions reserves team that participates in the NEAFL competition.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:


·          Development Program - Develop and maintain player development curriculum designed to enhance the capability of the player to play at an elite level. This shall be achieved through the provision of visual, written and verbal feedback to players. You will also be required to prepare and implement a development program that will enhance players’ technical skills, decision making and game sense

·          Reserves Program - Coach the Brisbane Lions reserves team that participates in the NEAFL. This will involve the management of the Reserves’ coaching staff

·          Leadership, Culture and People – Role model the standards, behaviours and discipline expected of Brisbane Lions staff and players. You must actively drive the Clubs culture and values

·          Stakeholder Engagement and Management – Communicate effectively with all Football Department staff with particular reference to the coaching, physical performance and recruiting functions

The ideal candidate must possess a minimum Level 2 AFL Coaching Accreditation, whilst an AFL High Performance Coaching Accreditation, and/or Education qualifications will be advantageous. You must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of current trends in AFL football, including tactics, strategies, patterns of play and team structures.

Previous experience in development coaching, including the design and implementation of coaching curriculum and programs, and team coaching experience at an elite youth or senior level are essential. You must possess sound IT skills and experience using game analysis software programs (Sportscode). In addition, you must demonstrate a thorough understanding of learning styles and teaching methodologies as well as the ability to identify skills deficiencies, and design appropriate remedial programs.

Well-developed active listening skills, showing an ability to take direction as well as to direct others is critical to being successful in this role. You must also possess very good communication and interpersonal skills, and be highly motivated and committed to achieving excellence. This entry level position would suit a talented, aspiring coach who is seeking to enhance their career at AFL level.

Basketball Queensland Participation Manager


Junior Participation Manager

Description         The Junior Participation Manager position has been created to grow the number of primary school aged children participating in basketball in Queensland through the use of the National Aussie Hoops Program.

The duties and responsibilities of the role include:

*       Plan, manage and implement the establishment of Aussie Hoops Centres to deliver the Aussie Hoops Program and to channel new players to member associations through Queensland;

*       Train personnel (including coaches and administrative staff) for the delivery of the Aussie Hoops program at Aussie Hoops Centres;

*       Support the delivery of the Aussie Hoops Program by liaising with primary schools and member associations; Promotion of the Aussie Hoops Program; and

*       Other duties as required.
